A younger version of my "Art of Math" series," this class makes Op Art (optional illusion art) more accessible by using pre-printed resources. We will briefly view and discuss work by artist, Bridget Riley, and use that as inspiration for an Op Art piece of our own. Students will learn about line, shape, and contrast. Students should be able to hold and use scissors proficiently. They should also be able to trace simple shapes on paper to cut out. Printable pdf pages are attached to this page. PLEASE print TWO copies of the circles OR squares OR lines per student. We will cut ONE and glue stick to the other page. Using these techniques, students can feel successful and confident in creating their own artwork.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how line and shape can create optical illusions.
