Class Experience

In this small group class, students will draw lines to make their hand appear like it is 3D. This is a challenging class but students will be successful if they take their time and follow directions. Students make ask questions at any time. I have limited the number of students to 4 so that I can help each student if needed.

*Parent note - Every student works at their own pace. I have had students finish this project before the end of class and students who need time after class. I will make sure every student understands how to complete the project before the class is over. The recording will be available if a student needs to re-watch the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I am Mrs. Alicia. I teach creative art classes. Creative art classes are classes that not only teach basic art skills but encourage and strengthen a child’s natural creativity.

My teaching style is laid back and light. I enjoy talking to my students and socializing is encouraged in my classes. I only ask that my students work while they talk so they can complete their project.

I encourage my students to try. Some of my projects are challenging but I remind students that very few people get it right the first time. Art takes practice and it is ok to try again.

I work with students on problem solving. Mistakes happen. What can you do to fix that mistake? Sometimes the mistake can be erased or turned into something else and sometimes it can’t. If the mistake can’t be fixed, then maybe the problem isn’t the mistake but how we look at it. Mistakes in art can create interest in our drawing or painting.

I have an associate degree in Early Childhood Education, which includes Early Childhood Credentials. I use the knowledge I gained while working towards my degree to create age-appropriate activities for my students. I also use this knowledge to create a fun classroom environment where every student feels welcome, included, and important.

I am so excited to share my love of art and the creative process with your children. Thank you for your interest in my classes.
