Opossums are amazing! This class will discuss facts about this unique mammal, North America's only marsupial, including it's natural habitat, characteristics, behaviors, adaptations, and specific needs, both in the wild and as a pet. Class includes an open Q&A discussion with students and a meet and greet with Matilda, a 10 month old live pet opossum! Matilda was born in Florida, at a USDA licensed breeder and currently resides in Wisconsin, one of the few states where it is legal to keep opossums as pets.
Learning Goals
The goal of this class is for students to increase knowledge and awareness of the many benefits of opossums in our environment, through fun and engaging interaction with fellow students that share the same interest, the teacher, and a live opossum.
