This one-time opinion writing class gets the learners highly engaged as they participate and share their opinions about the many Halloween-themed questions I pose. We start off class with this activity as I ask them which option they would prefer. For example, I might ask "Would you rather live in a haunted house or live in an abandoned castle?" Everyone gets to share their opinion and we continue with several other questions and options. Then, students will pick one of the questions to write...

-17 years of certified teaching guided writing lessons in grades 2-6th grade
Since students may not complete their writing piece after our 40 minute class, they are encouraged to complete their writing independently.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
