Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 3
In this class, students will learn to share their opinions in writing! Students will write about a favorite book they have read. Students will use a graphic organizer to develop an opinion, provide reasons, and then give examples from the book to support their opinion. Students will have the opportunity to share their writing with peers at the end of class. I will teach by giving examples and modeling how to write an opinion piece. Learners will be able to ask questions and brainstorm as a small group. The focus of this class is to provide a writing plan. Students might not finish a final draft during class time, but they can submit a final draft for teacher feedback.

Master's Degree in Education from Columbia University Teachers College
Hi, I specialize in teaching reading. It is my passion to introduce students to books and develop a love for reading in kids of all ages. I have a masters degree in education from Columbia University's Teachers College and a special education certificate in special education from Brooklyn College in New York City. I have worked as a peer tutor, as a test prep tutor, and as an Orton-Gillingham tutor, helping students overcome various reading difficulties to achieve their goals. I also worked as a reading teacher and a special education teacher at a title 1 charter school in NYC. I believe that every child has the potential to become an avid reader, we just have to ignite their passion and build their skills in an individualized way. I recently moved from NYC to live near the ocean. My hobbies include going to the beach, traveling, playing tennis, and or course READING!
