The learning goals for this course will investigate the importance of Operation Castle testing, in specific the Castle Bravo test, and learn about the far-reaching impacts of this testing. Further, it will discuss the scientific advances, the historical importance of the U.S. deterrence strategy, and why the Castle Bravo test was a success even with the dangerous miscalculation of the intended yield. Additionally, there will be an attached note taking document with pictures to help the student learn and retain the information. The student may download the document and use it to take notes during the class. Also, there will be short Castle Bravo videos to stimulate discussion points in the class. The desire of the teacher is to engage the students with questions and dialogue to help them further learn about the material. There will be no assigned homework in this class and the teaching style will be interactive discussion using power point.
Learning Goals
To learn specific facts, scientific advancements, and historical information about the largest nuclear bomb test in the United States. Discuss the vital impacts of Operation Castle and the development of the first deliverable hydrogen bomb via a plane.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
There is brief subject matter discussion and a photo evidence of the impacts to include deaths and cancer due to radioactive fallout that was a direct result of Operation Castle Bravo. There will be a short YouTube video in this class and you do not need a separate login for this video.
Supply List
There will be a two-page note taker for the student to download and use to take notes with during class.
