Description

Class Experience

In the first class, students will learn about breed specifics as noted from the AKC (American Kennel Club), such as the three sizes of poodles - toy, miniature, and standard. They will also learn the different colors of poodle coats accepted by the AKC. I will provide a color page with a poodle and students can make their poodle any color they want. Due to the poodle's luxurious hair, they sometimes cause concern for potential owners. I would like to teach the students that even though poodles have a lot of hair if groomed regularly they are very manageable. I will teach basic grooming tips for the poodles by practicing on a stuffed animal.

In the second class, students will be provided with a handout with facts about poodles so they can share with their family and friends. We will talk about the origin of the poodle breed and how they came about to be our loveable furry friends. There are several mentions of poodles throughout history, your students may be shocked to learn who owned (owns) a poodle. If time permits, I will introduce the students to my seriously silly poodles, Gus and Ozzy!
There will be no homework assigned in the class. Students may finish coloring their poodle pictures after our class if they run out of time.
Printed picture provided by the teacher Pencil & Paper (optional) Crayons / Colored Pencils Stuffed animal of their choice A Poodle Fact Sheet will be provided for students, before the 2nd class. Please print before 2nd class.
Students will be given open-ended questions to show their understanding. This class is for their information but, it is also for fun! Informal assessments such as true/false questions will be asked to check for understanding and retention.
1 hour per week in class, and no time outside of class.
Be prepared for students to ask for a poodle when this class is over.
All kidding aside there will be nothing in this class to cause concern!
