In this ongoing surprise class, where each lesson topic will be a mystery, we will be making new friends, having fun, and learning how to doodle all sorts of cute drawings across many topics. Sample topics: - wreaths - jungle animals - pets - forest animals - suns - ocean animals - books - insects - foods - generic doodles - weather - outer space - letters - numbers - architecture - sheep - cacti - seasonal or holiday-themed lessons At times our lesson theme will be a surprise, and other lessons may be student-guided, with our attending students voting on a lesson theme. My teaching philosophy: It is critical to me that all students feel seen and welcome so my classroom is 100% inclusive. Students of all religions, genders, orientations, races, and nationalities are welcome. No hurtful speech, bullying, or commentary will be tolerated. Art should be fun and relaxing rather than stressful, so we will also discuss the importance of letting go of perfection and expectations in order to truly enjoy the experience of creating art - even if it is just a simple doodle, drawing, or sketch! Optional participation opportunities: At the beginning of class while we wait for classmates to arrive students will have the opportunity to share upcoming weekend plans, new toys, experiences, anything they'd like to! After each doodle, students will have the opportunity to share their drawing. At the end of class, the students will have the opportunity to discuss their favorite doodle. Materials needed: Students will require paper and a writing utensil. Ideally, this will be white printer paper and a bold, thin-tipped marker. My personal favorite is the micron pen for doodles and art, but that is not necessary.

Please note that while pencil or colored pencils are ok to use, depending on the lighting at your child's work station, their drawing may not show up well enough on camera when its their chance to share their doodles.

Hello and welcome to my Outschool classroom👋🏻
I'm Stephanie, I have been educating children since 2005. I have taught over 1,000 students of different ages and offer fun and engaging lessons on:
👩🏻🏫 study skills and executive functioning support,
🎨 art/drawing,
👩🏻🏫 school subject-specific lessons (writing, math, Spanish)
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Behavioral Analysis with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Teaching and working with children is my passion! I offer fun and interesting lessons for students through my use of positive reinforcement. I adjust my approach to the students' current skill level so that they can learn quickly without feeling confused. I like to use props and puppets for my younger students and I also like to learn about my students because I want to understand them and help them feel supported throughout their learning.
I hope to continue to change the lives of students and families. I can't wait to see you in the classroom!
