This internet safety class for students is crucial to help them navigate potential online risks and stay safe while using the internet.

Class experience

1. Understand the potential risks associated with using the internet, including cyberbullying, online predators, and identity theft.

2. Learn about safe online behavior, including using strong passwords, being cautious when sharing personal information, and reporting suspicious activity to a trusted adult or authority figure.

3. Develop skills to recognize and avoid online risks, including cyberbullying and online predators.

4. Learn how to identify and report cyberbullying to a trusted adult or authority figure.

5. Understand the potential consequences of not being careful online and the importance of protecting personal information.
I have a Masters Degree in Educational Technology from Azusa Pacific University and am fully credentialed in both the elementary and secondary levels. I have over 20 years of public school teaching experience as a fulltime teacher and computer technology coordinator.

It is important to create a safe and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. This is done by establishing ground rules at the beginning of the class that emphasize the importance of respectful communication and active listening. If any conversation becomes too emotional or off-topic, it may be necessary to redirect the conversation back to the main focus of the class, which is internet safety. This is done by gently reminding students of the topic and refocusing the discussion.
