Class Experience

In this ongoing course, we will create artworks emphasizing process over product. At this age, learners gain knowledge through exploration of the world around them. In this ongoing class, we will we will create an original and unique artwork each week by utilizing various materials and art techniques in order to explore a variety of artistic experiences. First, we will observe and discuss examples for understanding and inspiration. Next, we will observe and discuss exemplars of the project we will be creating, so that your learner will have a better understanding of the project. Then, we will begin the guided art project for the week. After creating the artwork together, we will engage in a discussion in which each learner will have the option to share their artwork with the group and talk about it. This concluding activity promotes positive discussion, strengthening communication as well as critical thinking skills.

This class is also available as a 1:1 private tutoring class. Please message me for details.

Learning Goals

This lesson provides several positive learning outcomes. By creating an art project each week, the learners are able to gain a deeper understanding of how art is all around us, all the time. Other learning outcomes include positive communication and critical thinking skills. Group discussion during the presentation and activity promotes positive communication, as does sharing the artworks in the concluding discussion. Additionally, the learners will utilize critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge and experiences into the class discussion as well as into the artwork they create.
