Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Beginner Level
In this weekly, ongoing course, we will observe, discuss, & draw different animals each week based on their classification - mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians, as well as invertebrates. The content does not build, however it is a complete semester course.

We will discuss the animal kingdom in general, the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates, and each week, we will focus on one animal classification. We will observe real life examples of animals within that group, discuss fun facts, and then we will highlight an "animal of the week". We will observe the animal in detail & discuss fun facts, and then we will draw the animal together! After drawing together, we will engage in a discussion in which each learner will have the option to share their artwork with the group and talk about it. This concluding activity promotes positive discussion, strengthening communication as well as critical thinking skills.

This class is also available as a 1:1 private tutoring class. Please message me for details.

Learning Goals
This lesson provides several positive learning outcomes. By drawing one animal and learning about its classification, the learners are able to gain a deeper understanding of science and art in our world around us. Other learning outcomes include positive communication and critical thinking skills. Group discussion during the presentation and activity promotes positive communication, as does sharing the artworks in the concluding discussion. Additionally, the learners will utilize critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge and experiences into the class discussion as well as into the artwork they create.
