Students will be taken down an American timeline that begins at the Revolutionary War and ends in current day events. We will use PowerPoint presentation, a KWL approach in each class, and discussion throughout. The class will be in a format where students can come and go from week to week. Although we will progress down a timeline, each class will be its own stand alone history class. We will cover the following topics beginning from week one (Recently updated for 2021 Fall/2022 Spring...
The student will increase in their understanding of United States history, and will appreciate how understanding history can help them improve for the future.
I have taught American history in the brick and mortar classroom several years. I have a master's in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction, which includes teaching with diversity and meeting each student's needs.
Students will need a notebook or tablet for notes.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Due to it being a history class, there are some class that contain some politically sensitive topics (i.e. slavery, civil rights, wars between countries, political parties, etc.) I expect all students to be treated with respect, and will monitor class discussions on these topics very carefully.
