US Grade 2
This is an Ongoing Three Month (June, July, August) Second Grade Math Review class, so your child is able to enroll or unenroll at any point throughout the class. I have taught for 7 years in the public school setting as a 5th and 1st grade teacher, and I am currently a licensed teacher. The lessons I am teaching on Outschool are inspired by the math practices, routines, and games that helped my students exceed their math goals in the classroom. Each lesson in this ongoing class will stand on its own, but students who continue with the class will review most second grade standard based math skills, preparing your child for third grade. Kids need to be engaged in order to learn, and that is why we are not only reviewing math skills in our time together, but we will also play math review games at the end of each lesson. During our lessons together, I will be presenting a Google Slide Presentation, where we will go over the topics of the lesson through various activities. #academic Our class layout looks like this: 1. Check-In and Question of the Day (chat time) - 5 minutes 2. Math Warm Up - 5 minutes 3. Math Lesson and Activities - 20 minutes 4. Math Review Game - 10 minutes Your child will need a whiteboard and marker (or paper and pencil) for each class. Different classes may need other items, as well, so make sure to check the Classroom Tab on Outschool, as I will post what will be needed each week. Other items may include dice, a ruler, counters, or printables posted in the Outschool Classroom. Here is an overview of what the class will look like (subject to change): ⭐️ Week of June 5th: Place Value, Expanded Form, 10 More and 10 Less with 2 and 3-Digit Numbers ⭐️ Week of June 12th: Addition and Subtraction Strategies for Adding and Subtracting Numbers Within 20 ⭐️ Week of June 19th: Rounding to the Nearest 10 and Rounding to the Nearest 100 ⭐️ Week of June 26th: Estimating Sums and Differences, Adding and Subtracting Decade Numbers and Hundreds ⭐️ Week of July 3rd: 2D and 3D Shapes - Identifying Faces, Edges, Vertices, and Lines of Symmetry - NO CLASS ON JULY 4TH! ⭐️ Week of July 10th: Finding Unknowns with Algebra, Algebraic Word Problems ⭐️ Week of July 17th: Counting Pennies, Dimes, Nickels, and Quarters, Money Word Problems, Fewest Amount of Coins ⭐️ Week of July 24th: 2-Digit Addition with Regrouping, 2-Digit Subtraction Without Borrowing ⭐️ Week of July 31st: 2-Digit Subtraction With Borrowing ⭐️ Week of August 7th: Telling Time to the Minute ⭐️ Week of August 14th: NO CLASS! ⭐️ Week of August 21st: Creating and Interpreting Data on Graphs, Charts, and Tables ⭐️ Week of August 28th: Introduction to Multiplication with Pictures and Arrays - LAST DAY OF CLASS! ➡️ I prefer to keep learners unmuted, however there may be times where I need to mute students due to background noise or other factors. On occasion I may mute the whole class so that everyone has a chance to hear the game directions or the person speaking. ➡️ Just a reminder that per Outschool policy only the registered learner can be on the camera, which means no adults or siblings can be on the screen. Thank you! ➡️ The schedule for each week is listed above, but I will also post in the Outschool classroom each week letting families and learners know if there are supplies needed for the week.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Minnesota Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello everyone! I am a former elementary teacher, teaching 5th grade for 2 years and 1st grade for five. I enjoy teaching children about reading and math through games, hands-on learning, and engaging activities. Airplanes, bracelet-making, and social clubs are some of the other topics I am passionate about teaching. Through my time in the classroom, I know that in order for kids to learn, they need to be engaged and having fun! This is why I bring games and activities to all of my classes, so that we can really enjoy our time together.
I still currently hold a K-6 Elementary Teaching License. I loved my time teaching in the classroom but just recently decided it was time for me to stay home with my own two children (ages 3 and 1.5). We are excited for all the adventures we are going to have together as a family, especially going to the zoo to see my favorite animal - giraffes!
