US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This class is a private class to get your student ready for kindergarten. I will be using a variety of methods to introduce or strengthen concepts needed for kindergarten readiness. The first class is an assessment I use to see the child's academic strengths and weaknesses. I will use this assessment to create curriculum specifically for what each child needs to get ready for kindergarten. For beginning learners, the focus will be on letter recognition and phonics. I also incorporate colors, shapes and numbers as well. For advanced learners who are confident, we work on the next level of preparing for kindergarten which is reading and early math. I believe each child is different and learns in different ways. I believe in positive reinforcement and lots of fun. I will be using visual aids as well as games to keep your child interested. I have my snowman friend Snowy who helps us have a fun time learning. Snowy's mailbox is always a great tool I use to keep the children engaged. This class is also great for current kindergarten students who need extra help. I currently tutor current kindergartners in areas they need extra support and confidence.

Supply List
Please have the following items available at each class. The items we end up using will depend on the interest of your child. Please provide crayons, pencil, paper, scissors, glue sticks and playdough if available. Please print the worksheet for each class. A small whiteboard would also be a great tool to use in our class if you have one. The sheet will be listed in the classroom after you enroll.

Hello and welcome to my profile! I have been a teacher with Outschool since 2020. I enjoy teaching students of all ages. Some of my specialties include preparing Pre-K children for Kindergarten both academically as well as socially. I also enjoy teaching ESL to students from all over the world. I enjoy making learning fun. My snowman Snowy engages the students each week with his mail that he sends to the children. Snowy is just one of the unique ways we have fun in class while learning. I truly believe that children need to have fun while learning in order for the concept to really sink in and be understood.
I graduated from UNCW with a Bachelor's Degree in English. After college I started my teaching career as a high school English teacher. I left the profession to raise my four children. I decided to return to my career and have enjoyed teaching many years as a Pre-K teacher.
I am also an online ESL ( English as a Second Language) teacher with VIPKid. I enjoy getting to know my students both in the United States and all over the world!
I love snow! This is something that the kids always seem to really enjoy. I love hearing the children laugh and seeing those precious smiles while we enjoy learning together. My husband and children love to travel. We enjoy camping all over the USA. I also have a black lab named Snowflake and a cat named Chloe. I hope to see your child in class soon!Reviews
