In this course students will learn how to recognize and fluently read different sight words for first and second grade. Students will gain confidence in reading by being able to fluently recognize the sight word quickly and say it with confidence.
For each of these lessons students can practice the sight words after each class. Optional homework can include making flash cards and quizzing yourself during the week. Also, using colored pencils or markers to write each sight word in a different color and then saying that word aloud. This color coordination helps the brain remember and recall the sight words that were different colors. Additional word search puzzles and other activities could be given after lessons depending on the need.
Students should bring a pencil and paper to class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
