This course is a wonderful way for students to let themselves shine, while practicing speaking, listening and discussion skills. This is an ongoing course that students are welcome to join weekly, sharing new and interesting items with an ever-rotating audience of peers. Students will learn about taking turns, responding to other students appropriately and speaking clearly and with purpose. Class time will be structured in the following way: 1) Greeting and introductions 2) Dedicated "share and show" time, split equitably among all participants 3) Reflection and good-byes Topics covered will vary, depending on objects shared during class. Ideas of objects to share include: a special photograph, a cooperative pet, an important item, a favorite toy. Students are encouraged to attend multiple sessions to share a variety of new items!
Learning Goals
-Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions (e.g., listening to others with care, speaking one at a time about the topics and texts under discussion).
-Continue a conversation through multiple exchanges.
-Speak audibly and express thoughts, feelings, and ideas clearly.
