40 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1 hour per week. In addition to conversations in class, students will have a series of activities each week to complete outside of class including: - Practice activity- this may include reading comprehension on a topic, an organizer to complete, etc - Kahoot- this is a review game students will receive a weekly code to that will allow them to review between lessons. - Digital Breakout.edu room to complete (when applicable)

Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
In this year long ongoing class, students will learn about various science concepts, including chemistry, biology, astronomy, geology, and more. Each week, students will receive instruction on topics, including notetakers for their records, and practice activities to supplement the content of the week. Lessons will increase knowledge each week for long term learners, but do not build off each other each week. Students will also receive recommended supplemental videos (when applicable).

Week 1 ()- States of Matter (how they are determined)
Week 2()- Solutions vs. Mixtures 
Week 3 ()- Separating mixtures and solutions
Week 4 ()- Scientific Inquiry and the Scientific Method
Week 5 ()- Biomes (Terrestrial)
Week 6 ()- Biomes (Aquatic)
Week 7 ()- Biomes (Food chains, webs, and energy transfer)
Week 8 ()- Ocean Structure (structure of the ocean floor)
Week 9 ( 1/17/2022)- Landforms and what they do
Week 10 ()- Landforms and how they are changed
Week 11 ( )- Force and Motion- What is force
Week 12 ( )- Force and Motion- How force is determined
Week 13 ()- Astronomy (stars)
Week 14 ()- Astronomy (black holes, comets, and asteroids)
Week 15 ()- Planets (Inner 4 planets)
Week 16 () Planets (outer 4 planets and dwarf planets)

The last 5 minutes are dedicated to Q/A to ensure students gain understanding or opportunities for extension of knowledge. If private tutoring is needed, please message me to schedule a session.

This class is primarily lecture-based due to the rich content being covered, but students are encouraged to answer questions, share experiences throughout many points in each lesson through conversations. Science labs are shared for extension when available. 

*Background knowledge is desired, but not needed as these are introductory to the concepts.

Supply List
Handouts will be provided before each session on the discussion board as an attachment. Notetakers will be provided and are encouraged to be printed prior to session so students can fill in as we go. Supplemental materials will also be provided so students can review between sessions.
Videos will be provided to all participants of each session.

I like making learning relate to real world experiences so students can connect to material easier than standard memorization. I review in a flow pattern that starts with basic information and expands into complex information to assist students with retention.
