Through a partnership and collaboration with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and as an administrative teacher of public educational programs for more than ten years, I have taught English and social studies classes, among other subjects, to middle and high school students. Our curriculum met the Missouri Learning Standards and prepared high school students for college. In addition, I have received over: * 75 hours of professional development, specifically in English language arts writing courses * 50 hours of professional development, specifically in history * 12 hours of professional development teaching facts about people without personal viewpoints * 75 hours of professional development in diversity from all over the world and how to teach diversity * over 300 hours of teaching Geography courses about the world.
Homework OfferedSome students may want to actively participate in class and research the upcoming province in order to bring interesting, fun, and factual information to the class. Students will be required to write a 5-sentence paragraph about the province we just visited. The student will have 3 days after the class is completed to turn in the paragraph to the teacher. The teacher will review the paragraph and send feedback to each student. In addition, each student may want to make their own scrapbook for all the provinces they have visited. After enrollment, the student will receive the information on the new provinces we are visiting.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments OfferedStudents will be assessed informally in class.
* We do use Youtube videos for a virtual experience when visiting the countries. These Youtube videos are imbedded into the lesson. The students are not on Youtube themselves. * While the teacher uses Nearpod for the lessons, there may be times when the students will login to Nearpod for games, quizzes, and trivia about certain countires. * Sometimes Kahoot may be used as well requiring students to login themselves.
