US Grade 1
This ongoing course reviews first grade math. Every week we will cover a problem in each of these areas: 1. A number in different forms: standard and written form, expanded form, base ten blocks and using place value. 2. A math fact family (number bond) 3. Skip counting 4. Two-digit addition 5. Two-digit subtraction 6. Measurement/Data 7. Time 8. Money 9. Geometry 10. Word Problem Every week the problems themselves will change but cover the same ten different types. Your learner should be familiar with most of the areas reviewed (place value, addition/subtraction, telling time on the hour and half hour, skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s, and be familiar with some 2D and 3D shapes). I always help those learners who have not mastered these areas yet. If your learner needs to master these areas first, please see my class in the link below: https://outschool.com/classes/ongoing-first-grade-math-semester-1-N5X64JQk?usid=9agAAsiE&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link My classes are interactive and fun. I like to engage the children and we all problem solve together. I may use props, a whiteboard, and fun animated PowerPoint slides during my lessons. I always encourage learner interaction and I check in occasionally with a thumb's up to make sure there are no questions before we proceed. I will send out the worksheets before class every week. It will have the 9 different problems that we will solve in class. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom! Week of June 10: 10 problems covering all 10 types listed above Week of June 17: 10 problems covering all 10 types listed above Week of June 24: 10 problems covering all 10 types listed above Week of July 1: 10 problems covering all 10 types listed above Week of June 8: 10 problems covering all 10 types listed above Week of June 15: 10 problems covering all 10 types listed above Week of June 22: 10 problems covering all 10 types listed above Week of June 29: 10 problems covering all 10 types listed above etc.

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College
Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.
My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.
Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.
I look forward to this journey with you and your young learner. I will see you in the classroom.
