Homework
1 hour per week. 30 minutes per day practice outside of class.Class Experience
In this ongoing private piano lesson class the student will be evaluated to see where they need to be. I will add music and homework for them to complete weekly. Once the student has been evaluated we will begin to add to their skill set. This class will teach music theory, technique, as well as some ear training. Theory that may be taught - depending upon the students skill level - the value of notes, ex. whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, etc. Time signatures - what are they? How do they work? Why are they different? Dynamic signs, slurs, ties, scales - major and minor, crescendos, fermatas, sharps, flats, naturals, chords, etc. For ear training students may learn how to differentiate between minor and major tones, how to hear a complete scale, learn to tell by hearing if a note is stepping, skipping, repeating. Some weeks songs will be taught, some weeks exercises will be learned. Scales and arpeggios, chords - harmonic and melodic, minor and major will be taught at the appropriate times. Basically wherever your student is - I will meet them there and build their skills to be stronger and better each week. I do ask for students to spend around half and hour a day practicing outside the classroom. This will help build their skills so much faster and cement the things I teach each week. Students MUST have a piano or keyboard to make this class worthwhile. Students will need to print the work assigned as I post.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their piano playing skills, theory knowledge and ear for music.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Hannah and I'm so happy you stopped by my profile! I am currently a homeschooling mom, and have been a music teacher for half my life (16 years - you do the math;).
Music has the ability to strengthen the connection beween the body and the brain to help them work together as a team, which is why I incorporate music into a lot of my classes.
The more pathways a student uses for learning something new, the more pathways they have for retrieval of the information. Because of this, I utilize multisensory techniques.
My teaching style is "I tell you, you tell me, you show me".
As per one of my favorite quotes - "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
I offer piano lessons for beginners and intermediate learners. My classes are thorough and time efficient, but I also work at the students pace to be sure they are grasping the concepts as we move along.
