Class Experience

In this ongoing class, students will engage with math using a hands on approach. Of course, participation is always optional, so please understand that this class will be what you make of it. The teacher will have visual aids, such as Google Slides, flashcards and models to work along side the students. 

This class will cover topics such as:
1-1 correspondence
shapes
spacial recognition
patterns
comparing
parts and wholes (adding/subtracting)
coins
and more

This class is taught in English.

Students will gain math reasoning and observation skills while having fun and using a hands-on approach.

I taught kindergarten for 3 years (taught in the classroom for 9) and I have spent the last year teaching kindergarten online.

The teacher will send specific materials needed weekly, but these will be some of the things used throughout this class. 

-Counters- can include: actual 2 colored counters, counting bears, linking cubes, small marshmallows, M&Ms, goldfish, paper clips, etc.
-Markers/crayons/colored pencils & paper or whiteboard
-pattern blocks (real or printable provided)
-coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter) If you use another form of currency, please let me know and we can make some adjustments.
-dominos (real or printable provided)
-ten frame (printable provided or hand drawn)
-dice (real, app, or printable provided)

This is not an exhausted list, but I will notify parents ahead of time of anything special needed.

25 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.

Students may need help opening or manipulating materials. Parents may help off screen.

The material for this class is created by the teacher, but can include screen shared YouTube videos with permission from creators.
