US Grade Kindergarten
NEW SECTION STARTS 1/24 This class is filled with kindergarten skills to get your learner reading. It is perfect for those learners who know their letters sounds and are ready to move on and learn more advanced pre-reading skills. Since this is an ongoing class, it is designed for learners to start at any time. Each week, we also focus on a kindergarten math concept, a blend/digraph, and sight word or two. We will begin our day reviewing the calendar: days of the week, months of the year, and special holidays. Get ready to sing some songs together. We will talk about the weather, and each learner will graph their own weather. We will dress up Mr. Bear for Ms. Bree’s weather. They will have a chance to share their own weather with the class. Topics: Rhyming Words Sight words CVC words Blends and Digraphs Compound Words Syllables Comprehension and Beginner Reading Skills Vowels Telling Time Addition and Subtraction Skip Counting Make a Number 2D and 3D Shapes Show & Tell: We will have Show & Tell on the last class of each week. Show & Tell is a very important skill for this age group. It gives them a chance to learn important speaking and listening skills. Each class is taught from an interactive slide show, with multiple games, songs, and activities. The learner will be moving, interacting, and playing games while learning skills and concepts to be kindergarten ready. There will be multiple handouts specifically created for each class. This will aid in writing, and practicing the concepts learned each week. We will practice social skills in a positive, fun, and encouraging way. Many skills are important in a Kindergarten class, such as: raising your hand, waiting your turn, and being respectful to other learners. Each class, we will focusing on important skills to be ready to head off to kindergarten. Class Policies: This class follow's Outschool's Limited Refund Policy. Please review the Outschool refund policy on the website. Siblings must be enrolled to participate in class. I use the mute function as needed. If the learner's environment is quiet, I usually leave the learner off of mute. If there is background noise, I will utilize the mute function to ensure all learners can hear. Please review how to remove the mute function with your learner. This is an interactive class, so I encourage communication throughout.
Learning Goals
Student will learn important concepts to be ready for kindergarten, such as letter blends, sight words, syllables, comprehension and blends.
The learner will practice important math skills to prepare for kindergarten, such as addition/subtraction, time, skip counting, and more.

There will be a weekly class packet for all learners. I will send the weekly packet each Sunday evening, for the upcoming week. If your printer is not working, please message me for an alternative.
