Students will learn phonics skills and apply them to decode multisyllable words: letter sounds, digraphs/trigraphs, word families, rhyming, silent e rules, rule breakers, syllable work. We will review Dolch sight words and other high-frequency words. Picture clues and other comprehension strategies will be taught. Basic language arts, capitalization, punctuation, grammar, spelling, computer skills, and social skills are covered in the context of reading and responding to stories.

I have been teaching reading skills for over 20 years in a variety of home and school settings, including successful virtual reading classes.  I have a collection of lesson plans and rich stories to interest and motivate readers. There's nothing like the look of satisfaction on a young reader's face after sounding out a difficult word!
