US Grade Preschool - 1
This ongoing class is for learners who would prefer one-on-one instruction. In this class, you select one of my class topics and it is offered as weekly individual lessons. I cover the same material that is presented in my group version of the class, but focus the lesson based on the literacy level of your learner. This is great for learners who prefer one-on-one instruction or want to get to know a teacher before they join a group class. ** Please note that the class size is set to 2 students, but this is for siblings only. If you sign up and do not wish to enroll a sibling in the class, I will make the class private and your student will be the only one enrolled in the class. ** Upon enrollment, you choose the topic to be covered and can share any specific learning goals your child is currently working on. All topics focus on exploring connections between a learner's interests and imagination along with their current literacy skills. Select one of these topics: • Creating comics: every week we explore one aspect of creating comics and work on making one of our own. • Marvelous Maps exploring & making maps: every week we look at a map together and then create one of our own. • Young Storytellers: Creating Stories Together: every week I tell a story and then the learner creates a story to share. • Story Sparks - Creative Writing: every week I bring an item to spark story ideas and we work on creative writing together. • Building: talk, draw & write (bring a brick build to share): every week we share a build and then use it as inspiration for putting ideas down on paper. If you are interested in any of the other topics I teach on Outschool, please let me know to see if it is possible to offer as a one-on-one lesson. If you don’t see a date/time available that works with your schedule, please request a time that works for your learner.
Learning Goals
The overarching goal of this class is to get learners excited about expressing their ideas and using their emerging literacy skills in new and creative ways, so they can grow into more confident readers and writers over time.
