This is an ongoing course to learn letter sounds in a Montessori order, not alphabetical order. Each class will cover3-4 letter sounds. Students will need to have a sensory tray (shallow tray with rice, beans, sprinkles, salt) OR sensory bag (Ziplock bag filled with washable paint or hair gel) in order to practice "magic writing". Students will also practice identifying words that begin with the letter sounds introduced. Let's learn letter sounds in ways that are fun, but that are also beneficial to young readers! In this class we will sing and use body movements to help learn letter sounds song followed by games to help us identify beginning or ending sounds. Then students will practice identifying letter sounds with a game on screen. Students will be introduced to all lowercase letters and short vowel sounds through interactive game play. Let's play and learn! Just as reminder this class is broken up into 8 weeks, or 8 classes. The section will consist of 8weeks, once the 8 weeks of lessons have been taught the letters will repeat. If you happen to miss some don't worry! You can always stay signed up for the upcoming sections in the following month to get all 26 sounds. I highly suggest taking this class at least twice, for mastery. 2022 schedule Week 1 1/5: amst Week 2 1/12: ifd Week 3 1/19: rogl Week 4 1/26: huc Week 5 2/2: bnk Week 6 2/9: vep Week 7 2/16: wjy Week 8 2/23: xqz

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Nohely, known to my students as Ms. Nohely. I love to teach and make learning fun and personal to my students. I currently specialize in semester long classes and ongoing classes. In reality I have taught over 100 class meetings alone on Outschool, and continue to teach more! I see myself as a teacher specialized in kinder and first grade readiness, but I plan to bring so much more to Outschool including dance and Spanish taught by a native Spanish speaker.
I am a former elementary school teacher, still currently licensed in my state. In recent years I have taught English to students in China online. I have also tutored and trained adults and children online and in person.
I have been very fortunate to do what I love for over 10 years now. It started when I was a teen teaching dance in my local recreation center, then progressed as I taught in a formal classroom after receiving my bachelor's degree in education, to later teaching online. You can say teaching is my thing!
I genuinely believe that education is more than scholarly work and paper pencil results. My classes are interactive, playful, and educational. I strive to make each lesson focus on a particular objective, while finding ways to entertain my students. If at the end of the lesson my students feel accomplished and gained a new skill, then I have done my job.
I really do love to teach. Teaching has become my passion and part of my everyday life! Because of the wonders of technology, I have been very blessed with staying home and pursuing what I love. This has given me time to create memories with my two young sons and husband. We recently adopted our first pet and are learning something new every day with our Great Dane Georgia. It goes to show you really never stop learning!
I'm very excited to be here on Outschool and I cannot wait to meet all of you!

Class Policies:
1) I aim to keep classes close to the scheduled amount of time, however, classes with low enrollments or especially talkative students may run a few minutes under or a few minutes over.
2) If a class does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements, I will contact the parents and learners to confirm they want to continue class 24 hours before class is scheduled to begin. I will teach the class unless the parent or learner requests to transfer to a more-full section with the exception of camps and semester long classes (8+ weeks of class). Camps and semester long classes must meet the minimum of five learners in order to carry forward and if, within 24 hours before the first meeting, they do not meet the minimum, the section will be canceled and the parents will receive a full refund.
3) Classes will begin at the scheduled time, even if all learners are not in the classroom (unless there appears to be a technical issue). I will not contact absent learners during class time so I can focus on the learners who are present.
4) If no learners are in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom. In this situation, I will contact the families after I have left the classroom to give them the option to transfer learners to a new section.
5) I will post the class recording to the classroom as soon as it is available to me.
6) Learners must be within the age range indicated for each class. Learners who are not of age for classes will be withdrawn after parent notification from the teacher. Parents, if you strongly feel that your child can or should be in a class regardless of age, please contact me. I have been known to make exceptions on certain occasions. THIS IS ALL UP TO TEACHER DISCRETION.
) Classroom expectations are as follows:
a. Learners are expected to know how mute and un-mute themselves to avoid any distracting or awkward background noises for both the learners and myself. Learners will get to share and speak in class under teacher instruction.
b. All learners are expected to be focused as much as possible for their current age. For younger learners, they are welcomed to bring a toy or stuffed animal if that helps them remain in class. Older students are asked to not have their phones with them in class so they can focus on learning.
c. Parents and siblings are welcomed to watch the class, but if siblings are going to participate, each sibling must be enrolled in the lesson individually. Siblings cannot attend and participate in class with only one enrollment to the lesson.
d. If a student cannot appropriately behave and participate in a lesson, they will be given three warnings before being placed in the waiting room. The student will be place in the waiting room as long as the teacher best sees fit and will be readmitted to class when the teacher feels they are ready to rejoin. If behaviors are extreme enough, the parent will be contacted by the teacher and the Outschool team will be notified as well.
Thank you for your understanding and support in our online classroom! Parents really are a key component to successful students.
