Class Experience

In this class we will be focusing on basic math skills. Working on the basic math skills will help students feel confident and ready to work with numbers on their own. This ongoing class will meet once a week for 30 minutes . I will use a white board and manipulatives. Students will need a pencil, paper, and some kind of counter/manipulative. The counters can be blocks, coins, goldfish, or whatever you have. We will occasionally use google slides to help be more hands on with our math skills. Students should be able to move a mouse around and click/move it a little. I think math should be fun and engaging and doing things as hands on as possible is one way to help with that.

Each week we will work on a different skill. The meeting dates and skills we will work on are listed below.
2/25 9-9:30: Topic/theme- rote counting and counting objects
3/4 9-9:30: Topic/theme- Recognizing shapes and matching shapes

Parental Guidance
I will occasionally use google slides as a more interactive material. I will have the slide created ahead of time and will share my screen with students. Because these learners are younger I will not have them try to navigate clicking on a link and going back and forth between our google slides link and our video link. I will share my screen and have students tell me how to move the objects on the screen.
Supply List
Students will need paper, a pencil, and some type of counter or manipulatives. This can be blocks, coins, goldfish, or anything you have around the house.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Mrs. Moog. I am an elementary teacher and taught elementary grades 2-4 for 4 years and preschool for 1. I love teaching and helping students understand the why behind what they are doing. I try to make learning fun for all students. When I was in elementary school I struggled with reading and it was hard. I want students I work with to have a different experience than I did. I want students to feel welcome and unafraid to make mistakes. My goal is for students to be excited to learn and eager to try new things. I love math, puzzles, and camping. I have a 2 1/2 year old son and we love to build towers and read books. I look forward to working with you!
