Ongoing Level 4 Montessori 1st Grade Full Curriculum (Reading, Math, Culture)

In this ongoing class, students will be presented a variety of Montessori lessons. Each week, students will work on reading words with silly rules (phonograms & digraphs), work on concrete and abstract math, and explore a lesson within the Culture curriculum.

Class Experience

In this ongoing class, students will learn a variety of Montessori lessons that most children would learn in their first year of the 6-9 (Lower Elementary) program. Each class will start with the calendar, then lead into the daily lesson. 
1st Day: Reading
2nd Day: Math
3rd Day: Culture

Week of August 21st:
- reading works with the ng, qu and wh rules
- static subtraction with the golden beads
- map of continents

Week of August 28th:
- reading words with the c, ph, le rules
- static subtraction with the stamp game
- study of North America

Week of September 4th:
*NO CLASSES*

Week of September 11th:
- reading words with the oy, ey and y rules
- static subtraction with the stamp game
- study of South America

Week of September 18th:
- reading words with the ar, or, and er rules
- dynamic subtraction with the golden beads
- study of Europe

Week of September 25th:
- reading words with silent b, g, and k
- dynamic subtraction with the stamp game
- study of Asia

Week of October 2nd:
- reading words with silent h and u
- dynamic subtraction with the stamp game
- study of Africa

Week of October 9th:
- reading words with silent l and w
- static division with the golden beads
- study of Australia/Oceania

Week of October 16th:
- review of all of the digraphs
- static division with the golden beads
- study of Antarctica

Week of October 23rd:

- the five oceans

Week of October 30:
- reading words with the c, ph, le rules

- life cycle of a pumpkin

Week of November 6th:
- reading words with the oy, ey and y rules
- static subtraction with the stamp game
- my country, my state

Week of November 13th:
- reading words with the ar, or, and er rules
- dynamic subtraction with the golden beads
- flags of the world

Week of November 20th:
- reading words with silent b, g, and k
- dynamic subtraction with the stamp game
- parts of a turkey

Week of November 27th:
- reading words with silent h and u
- dynamic subtraction with the stamp game
- find out how penguins stay dry

Week of December 4th:
- reading words with silent l and w
- static division with the golden beads
- find out how arctic animals stay warm

Week of December 11th:
- review of all of the digraphs
- static division with the golden beads
-  ice melt experiment

Week of December 18th
- print writing wish list
- static division with the golden beads
- holiday story experiment

All of World Montessori Academy’s Montessori classes are taught by MACTE, AMS or AMI certified, trained teachers with years of experience! This ensures that we are able to offer quality Montessori classes, while adapting them to fit an online learning environment. 

To ensure that your child gets the most out of each and overt class, please ensure that they are prepared when they come to class. This means bringing any printables, materials or anything else that has been requested by the teacher. Everything will be posted on Mondays after class. You don't need to bring anything specific to class on Mondays. 

This is an ongoing course, so students may begin or leave the course at any time. The classes do not build onto the previous week.

Wednesdays: lined paper, pencil, and eraser
Thursday: printable Culture worksheet (please print and cut out prior to class)

The teacher for this class will either be Meghan or Sierra. 

Meghan is the founder of World Montessori Academy, as well as having her MACTE Montessori Teacher training and Registered Early Childhood Educator. She has a warm and welcoming nature. Meghan actually went to Montessori when she was little! She fell in love that knew that when she grew up that she wanted to become a Montessori teacher... and look where we are now! Her dream came true and she can't wait to share her love of Montessori with you and your children! 

Sierra has been teaching for 8 years. She is a Montessori Master Teacher, certified and trained through the American Montessori Society (AMS) and MACTE. Teaching is her true passion. Guiding children through academics while creating a curious environment and fostering a true love for learning is what fulfils her. Sierra is so excited to be able to share her love of Montessori online with students around the world.

All of the Montessori classes from World Montessori Academy are taught by certified, trained Montessori teachers. This ensures that you are receiving the best, authentic Montessori experience for your child. When looking for Montessori classes, please make sure that the teacher has one of the following trainings/certifications: MACTE, AMI, AMS.
