Ongoing Kindergarten Tutoring 1:1

This ongoing class is a one-on-one tutoring experience for a kindergarten-age level student. This would be perfect for students who work best in a class by themselves.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
I will work with your child to meet them at their needs. Both with phonics and with math. We will cover kindergarten standards including beginning reading (cvc words and blending), writing, and math. We will work on letter formation in writing and number formation for math. The student will learn a variety of math concepts including shapes, counting, addition and subtraction. I also like to make the last day of class very hands on using play dough, directed drawing or other fun manipulatives to keep the students engaged.

In the classroom there will also be follow along videos uploaded and packets to use outside of class to continue to grow their skills. New students will be placed through a process in the first few classes to test their skill level and the teacher will then adjust from there.
Week of 10/31- Learning about day of the dead
Week of 11/7- Reading and writing cvc words
week of 11/14- Math word problems
Week of 11/28- Reading and writing cvc words

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Ms. Ashby and I teach kindergarten reading and writing skills here on outschool as well as in a brick and mortar classroom during the school year.

I have a very diverse teaching background. Since graduating with my Bachelors in Elementary Educationand minor in reading education I have taught 2nd grade, pre-school, 4th grade, and Kindergarten as the primary teacher. I have also had long term substitute positions in 1st and 2nd grade. I have a passion for hands on learning and whole brain teaching. My goal as a teacher is to help students reach their goals, personal and academic, by fostering a love of learning and giving them a space to be curious and learn through experiences.

A little something about me: my list of hobbies is ever growing as I love learning new things and consider myself to be crafty. I am currently into wood working and embroidery. I live at the beach with my Dogs Marlin and Mabel and in our free time in the spring and summer months we enjoy going out on the water fishing or enjoying the company of others.
