Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Advanced Level
This course is the first of its kind on the Outschool platform. It is the most in-depth look at horse anatomy and physiology currently on Outschool. Although it is created for students of all horse-knowledge levels, it will be too advanced for some. I will be teaching the names of actual muscles, bones, nerves, tendons, veins, and other body parts. Some of these words are much more difficult words than students are accustomed to and thus it may be overwhelming for some learners. In an effort to simplify this, classes are short. However, they are info-packed. I will be providing students with some supplemental, optional work some weeks as well with suggested learning techniques to promote learning retention after class.

This course is not progressive. Students can jump into learning at any time and stay as many weeks as desired! Each class will comprise of both a course lecture (filled with images on lecture slides) and retention activities to help learners remember the material. Students are encouraged to color the muscle/bone/body part as we identify it and study it; not work ahead. I should let parents know, Friday morning's section is the currently the quietest "atmosphere" of all sections offered.

Activities and additional, optional learning may include: games, quizzes, label diagrams, printable dough model mats, note taking is encouraged, and occasional body movement.

$3.99 Book for Class on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Horse-Anatomy-Dover-Nature-Coloring/dp/0486448134/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=horse+anatomy&qid=1635994144&sr=8-10

Each student will need their own copy of this coloring book. If, for the first week a learner does not have the book, they can listen but will not be able to color in class. Coloring the sheets and taking notes will help you understand. Due to publication and copyright, I will not be providing students with the pictures to copy in class for their coloring purposes. However, the book lasts the entirety of the 37 weeks. Parents should be aware at the end of the book, there are reproductive pages. This course will not cover these pages and any reproductive questions will be referred to mom and dad.

My mission for this class:

Vet students and horse owners know what things are, how they function, and how the horse is affected when things go wrong. In this class, my mission is that riders understand how their actions affect their horses, and how one body part directly affects another, why performance abilities shift, how injuries occur, and how seemingly unrelated body parts affect and hinder others.

Please bring the book and coloring utensils as well as pen/pencil to class every week.
Join in any week you like! You don't have to start on a particular lesson!
