In this ongoing, live, online class, students will learn to draw characters inspired by Naruto, My Hero Academia and other popular anime and manga characters with plenty of feedback, encouragement, and guidance from the instructor. Students are also free to make changes and add their own creativity! The instructor will demonstrate and explain step-by-step as students follow along, creating their own magnificent artwork. Students can copy the instructor’s picture or can add their own creative embellishments and colors. Students are encouraged to hold their art up to the camera for show and tell, although this is optional. Students are also welcome to ask for help during class at any point, so they never have to worry about getting stuck. This class is geared toward beginners and intermediate/advanced students are welcome as well. The main goals are that students have fun while creating art they can feel proud to display! Each week, session topics are learner-directed. In the case of this class, that means that students get to vote on which anime / manga character we will draw. If your learner wants to draw a different character than what the rest of the class voted on, your child can use their creativity to modify their art, changing colors and details so that it matches what they envision. Each week, the supplies required are pencil and paper. Students are also welcome to add in any other supplies they have on hand, such as colored pencils, if they wish to add color. The anime/manga character of the week will depend on the learners' preferences, but here's a sample list of topics and characters that the class can draw: Expressions - Naruto Powers - Shoto (My Hero Academia) Heroes - Deku (My Hero Academia) Villains - Gaara (Naruto) (See the bottom of this description for a list of drawing subjects by date) During class, students will learn step-by-step how to draw the character. The instructor will demonstrate coloring techniques, and students will begin coloring in class, although this part is optional. Students will finish coloring on their own and can share their art at the beginning of the next class for encouraging feedback and if needed, assistance. Supplies: Students are encouraged to use supplies that they already own. The instructor will demonstrate using the following, but again, students do not need these exact supplies: -Printer Paper or watercolor paper -Marker or Pencil to outline and draw -Markers, colored pencils, crayons, or anything to add color. Upcoming Drawing Subject List: Note: This list is subject to change. Feel free to send us a message if you want to be sure what we’re drawing for the week! There are days when the teacher assigned to your class is not available to teach, and in that instance, one of our other teachers will take over the class. No worries, only teachers trained to teach the class will become possible substitutes and we will usually post a message on the Outschool classroom as a heads-up. If you would prefer not to attend the session with a substitute teacher, feel free to send us a message through Outschool a day after your class occurs so we can give you a refund. Thank you!
Learning Goals
Students will learn imaginative and anime / manga drawing techniques. They will also learn how to create depth in their art to make it pop. They will learn how to select colors that look good together and how to add their own creative flair to their art. The end result will be drawings of anime characters they will feel proud to display.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hello! This is Sabrina(a student in this class), this class has been really fun for me so far and has helped me to improve my drawing skills quite a bit. Miss Gemma is always so nice and is always giving positive feedback(and if we need to change something on our drawings she always is very polite about it tells us how to fix it). Some of the drawings I have done were I little too easy and some were just a tad too hard but overall this class is just the right level for me(I’m eleven). I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who really likes animals and really likes art. Thanks for teaching this class! By the way, to show my improvement I put the first drawing I did in this class in May of 2021 and the drawing I did last Thursday(September of 2021).
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ms.Gemma is great with the kids. She is very patient and she makes the class fun. My daughter loved her class. - P. Edwards
