In this ongoing drama club, students will participate in a range of independent and whole-class activities to develop their confidence through speaking, acting, narrating, role-playing, reading scripts, and creating monologues.

Class experience

Students will improve their confidence in a safe and friendly environment.
Students will develop drama-based skills such as using their imagination, creating monologues, reading from a play script, and acting scenes through role-playing.
Students will become familiar with some traditional stories and myths.
Students will be able to follow instructions and take turns.
Students will develop ways to express themselves e.g. through emotions, miming, sounds, and body movements.
Messages will be sent via the classroom a week before the required class for any supplies needed e.g. if students need to be familiar with a particular story.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Harry Potter and the Tempest do mention death within the stories which may be a sensitive topic to some learners. Please consider whether or not your child would feel comfortable during these lessons. For Harry Potter, we will be acting scenes and also hot seating characters which may mention the death of Harry's parents or Voldemort. For the Tempest, we will be reading the first 2 pages of a page script to act out which mentions the possibility of the boat sinking.

For our resources, you do not require a Twinkl account. We will provide the text we will either be reading (Tempest 2 pages) and a section of Harry Potter to act (short passages from the book).
For the play scrips and role-playing, we will use traditional stories through Twinkl. We have written authorisation to use these in our classes with regard to commercial usage.
