Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Daniella Hoffman. I was a classroom teacher for 16 years until last year when I discovered loving teaching online with an ESL online company! I am a mother of four teenagers and love spending time with my family. My husband, our four children and I moved to Florida four years ago to enjoy the warmer weather and take advantage of the outdoor activities together.

I received my Bachelors in Speech Communication, with a Minor in the Romance Languages (Spanish, French, Italian & Portuguese) at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD and have a Masters in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University, MD. I have also studied abroad in Spain (8 weeks-through a high school program) and Italy (1 year at the Universita Per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy- while earning upper level college credits)

My classes will be based on subjects I am passionate about from my own life experiences. As a certified PADI scuba diver for the past 25 years, I am offering my class- "Scuba Diving Training 101" to children between the ages of 4-7. In the near future I will also be teaching classes about my other passions & hobbies. My hobbies include: being a scuba diver, a horseback rider, a tennis player, a world traveler, a volleyball player, a music lover and an avid movie goer! (especially Disney!)

I have taught K-5th grade (in all subject matters) for 16 years and have been an online ESL teacher to students from ages 3-13 for the last 14 months. I believe that learning should be FUN, ENGAGING and RICH with content. Wherever appropriate I use my background hobbies and family experiences to make real life connections to my lessons. My students seem to love the real connections we make in class! (**There is even a "connection" signal I teach my students to do as a silent cue to let me know they want to share a connection to what is being discussed, they love this too!**)

My Outschool classroom is a positive, safe, and fun environment for students to explore, enjoy and challenge themselves as they explore enrichened learning.

I am so excited to have your learner join me in my classroom! See you soon!

~Teacher Daniella

**CLASS POLICIES***
1 - I strive to keep classes close to the scheduled amount of time. However, depending on the amount of students enrolled and the pace of the students, classes may run a few minutes over or under.

2 - Classes will begin at their scheduled time, even if all students are not in the classroom. If your learner has missed the beginning of class, they can watch the video of class later to see what they missed.

3 - If there are no learners in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom.

4 - Classroom expectations are as follows:
     A. Students will remain muted to avoid any distracting background noise that may disturb other students, until I prompt them to share..
     B. Parents and siblings are welcome to watch the class but if siblings are going to participate, each sibling must be enrolled in the lesson individually.

**REFUNDS/TRANSFERS**

If within the week, you realize you won't be able to make class, please submit a transfer request at least 24 hours prior to class beginning. This ensures another student who would like to take the class has enough time to see the opening and enroll.

If contacted after class, I cannot refund or transfer. I do understand there are emergencies that may arise and I will do my best to support you if I am contacted before the class is scheduled.
