Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
In this ongoing class, each week we will learn a new set of blends (2 consonant sounds that blend together), consonant digraphs (2 consonants that make a new sound), or long vowel sounds. These are skills typically taught in the second semester of Kindergarten. On alternating weeks, we will first practice making the sounds in isolation, blending with them into words, complete a word sort, and then play a game with our new words. These classes are labeled (A). The following week, we will practice with additional blending using word families, play a game, and read a book. These classes are labeled (B). The materials used in the class will require some adult assistance to prepare before class. In addition, students will be given materials to practice the sounds at home. This includes exclusive access to my RAZkids classroom with tons of books and additional materials.

This class is for beginning readers who know their consonant and short vowel sounds and have started blending to read words. Parents should be nearby to help with any technology issues but do not necessarily need to sit with their child. Of course, parents are welcome to sit off camera with their learner if they wish or their child needs additional support. Below are the sounds studied in each unit:
Learning Goals
