Intermediate Level
In this ongoing Movie Book Club class, learners will explore reading comprehension, critical thinking, and media literacy by comparing popular books and their movie adaptations. We’ll focus on story elements like character, plot, setting, and theme. What topics will you cover? Every two months we will dive into a new book-to-movie pairing. Topics include character analysis, theme exploration, storytelling techniques, visual vs. written storytelling, and real-world connections. We’ll also discuss emotions, perspectives, and social themes. How is your class structured? The class follows a predictable weekly routine. We will read aloud 1-2 chapters and then answer discussion questions using visuals and slides. We will compare books to movie adaptations and explore the connection between medias. The class is structured to be engaging, interactive, and supportive of different learning styles. How will you teach? I use a multi-sensory, inclusive teaching approach. Lessons include visual slides, video clips, read-alouds, and group conversations. What’s your teaching style? My teaching style is warm, flexible, and student-led. I focus on building confidence, sparking curiosity, and making reading fun and meaningful through movies. I adapt content to meet each learner where they are. Here is the first three books in this club: Book 1: How to Train Your Dragon Book 2: Matilda Book 3: Goosebumps: Night of the Living Dummy
