In this ongoing group class, students will spend each week mastering different parts of playing the guitar. This is a perfect class for a student eager to learn the basics of playing.

In this ongoing class, students will begin working on playing their guitar! We will begin with the basics: learning the different parts of a guitar, how to properly hold it, and some tools that are used when playing a guitar. Once students have mastered the basics, they will begin learning basic chords and strum patterns. Each week students will focus on mastering a specific task given to them, whether it is a chord, strum pattern, or chord progression. Each student will work at their own pace and have their own learning plan. Be sure to have your guitar tuned and ready for class! Week 1: Lean parts, proper holding, Em/Am Chords Week 2: Learn warm up, D chord, single note Week 3: Learn to read chord chart, single note Happy Birthday Week 4: Learn G chord, single note Old Town Road NOTE: Each week is subject to change depending on the classes abilities. This is a tentative schedule and some tasks may be completed in earlier weeks or later weeks. **Since this is only a 30 minute class, please be sure to have you guitar tuned and ready for class. The app GuitarTuna is what I use and recommend for all students. If you have any questions regarding that, please reach out!

Hello Outschool Community!
My name is Sarah Trommer and I am 29 years old. I currently live in Houston, Texas with my husband, 18 month old son, and 2 month old daughter. Prior to that I lived in Florida and Louisiana as I am a military spouse and we have to move every couple of years!
On Outschool, I am excited to be able to offer classes all about music, songwriting, and guitar.
If you can't tell, I am a lover of all things music! I am self taught in guitar, ukulele, and piano and love making music through songwriting too. Music has always been such an important part of my life, as it has helped me have a way of expressing my thoughts and feelings. My hope in teaching with Outschool is that students will be able to have the same opportunity for expression that I was able to have growing up.
Although I have no educational background in teaching or music, it has not stopped me from sharing what I love with others. My style of teaching is not always traditional or by the book, but we always have fun and learn in fun and unique ways.
Over the last several years, I have given music lessons to a number of students and have loved every minute of it! I believe it is my job, as a teacher, to create a fun and safe environment for students. I will always strive to make my classroom fun, safe, and engaging for your students.
