US Grade 2 - 4
In this ongoing class, we will work through one different "Bad Kitty" book per week. "Bad Kitty" is a series of funny graphic novels by Nick Bruell. You may join any week that you'd like! Ongoing classes do not build upon each other. For the first part of our class, we will discuss what we liked (or didn’t like) about the book and generally share our thoughts and questions. This will be primarily student-led. For the second part, I will ask students intriguing questions to allow students to go deeper into the books. This will increase comprehension, literary thinking, and connections. Examples include summarizing the book and finding the theme, examining character and author choices/motivation, imagining how the entire story would change in the story if one element were different, finding patterns and connections with other Bad Kitty books or their own lives, etc. For the final portion of the class, we will enjoy a fun Bad Kitty activity that will also extend learning! Examples include crafts, drawing an alternative book cover, drawing characters/scenes, acting out scenes, writing a scene in a completely different way, creating a commercial for a specific Bad Kitty book, and/or funny sentence completion activities, etc. Week 1 -- October 1st Bad Kitty Takes a Bath Week 2 -- October 8th Happy Birthday Bad Kitty Week 3 -- October 15th Bad Kitty vs Uncle Murray (later versions this title is vs The Babysitter) Week 4 -- October 22nd Bad Kitty Meets the Baby Week 5 -- October 29th Bad Kitty for President Week 6 -- November 5th Bad Kitty School Daze Week 7 -- November 12th Puppy's Big Day Week 8 -- November 19th Bad Kitty Goes to The Vet Week 9 -- November 26th Bad Kitty Takes the Test Week 10 -- December 3rd Camp Daze Week 11 -- December 10th Kitten Trouble Week 12 -- December 17th Bad Kitty Joins the Team No class December 24th or 31st Week 13 -- January 7th Bad Kitty Goes on Vacation Week 14 -- January 14th Bad Kitty Gets a Phone Week 15 -- January 21st Bad Kitty: Supercat Week 16 -- January 28th Bad Kitty Makes a Movie Week 17 -- February 4th Bad Kitty: Party Animal (new release expected on January 14th, 2025!)

Other Details
Parental Guidance
There are parts of the books where kitty is very angry and we see symbols that indicate this. In the adult world we may understand what this could mean, though kids often do not. We will be stating that Kitty was so angry she didn't even have words, etc.
Supply List
Your child should have the "Bad Kitty" books that we are discussing that week. If you child doesn't own them, borrowing from a friend or utilizing your public library are great ways to get them! For some activities, your child will need a pencil, drawing paper, glue, construction paper, and/or a notebook/lined writing paper. I will announce these ahead of time so that you will be prepared.
