1-2 hours per week. Some students may want to actively participate in class and research the upcoming country in order to bring interesting, fun, and factual information to the class. Students will be required to write a 5-sentence paragraph about the country we just visited. The student will have 3 days after the class is completed to turn in the paragraph to the teacher. The teacher will review the paragraph and send feedback to each student. In addition, each student may want to make their own scrapbook for all the countries they have visited. After enrollment, the student will receive the information on the new country we are visiting. There will be some information on this handout, but it is encouraged for each student to find additional information about each country.
Assessment
Assessments will be informal throughout the class, but after class, students will be required to write a 5 paragraph about the country we just visited. The teacher will review the essay and send feedback to each student.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Students will learn the key facts as we take a trip around the world. Each week we will discover the capital, special landmarks, fun facts, and other interesting and important information in the current country we are visiting.

THIS CLASS IS DESIGNED WITH THE STUDENTS HAVING A VOICE IN WHICH COUNTRY THEY WANT TO VISIT. EACH CLASS SECTION DECIDES WHICH COUNTRIES THEY WANT TO VISIT AND WE VISIT THE COUNTRIES BASED ON THE WISHES OF THE STUDENTS IN EACH SECTION. There are about 200 countries and it is nearly impossible for a student to visit each and every one of the counntries, so this is why each class, the students in those classes get to decide where they want to go. Each week, the students decide where they want to go the next week and are reminded at the beginning of the week in the classroom where we are visiting. This, also, allows for new students to see the country for the week.

AGAIN: EACH SECTION IS ON A DIFFERENT COUNTRY AND IS CHOOSING WHERE THEY WANT TO VISIT EACH WEEK. EACH STUDENT HAS A VOICE.

This class is designed for students to enter the class at any point in the ongoing status because each week will be a new country. Students will receive information prior to class on which country we will be traveling into. Each student can then research information they find interesting and/or important to bring to class.

This class will be interactive as each student has the ability to discover information about the country and share the information with the other classmates. In fact, it is encouraged for each student to bring a discovery to class. When each student is allowed a voice, in addition to the teacher, the wealth of information can be great. This will be an exciting adventure.

I like to be a hands-on-to-learning teacher. This class is not about the teacher. The students are the focus and will guide the course. The teacher is just the facilitator. For this class, there is no prior knowledge required to attend this class.

Learning Goals

* Students will improve their comprehensions skills after learning key facts in each country
* Students will improve their research skills in finding key facts, fun facts, and interesting facts about each country.

Other Details

Supply List
Students will benefit from a way to research each country we will be visiting. After enrollment, the student will receive information of the upcoming country to research. In addition, the student will need Word, Google Doc, or pdf, to submit their 5-page essay.
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
    Sources
    * We do use Youtube videos for a virtual experience when visiting the countries. These Youtube videos are imbedded into the lesson. The students are not on Youtube themselves. * While the teacher uses Nearpod for the lessons, there may be times when the students will login to Nearpod for games, quizzes, and trivia about certain countires. * Sometimes Kahoot may be used as well requiring students to login themselves.

Hello. My name is Teacher Tanya.

    Greetings,

I am Teacher Tanya, a dedicated educator with a rich personal and professional background.

In my personal life, I fulfill roles as a devoted wife, a mother to nine children, a grandmother to sixteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Teaching, reading, and traveling in my RV are my passions.

Central to my philosophy is the belief that continuous learning is essential for personal growth. I advocate for acquiring new knowledge daily to enrich our lives. As an educator, I employ the 5 E's approach—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate—while also emphasizing the importance of "Extend" in teaching.

Regarding my education and experience, I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and have pursued extensive coursework towards a Master's Degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, I possess a Master's Degree in Business Administration. Call me crazy, but I am currently working on a Doctorate is Education: Organizational Leadership.

With fifteen years of experience owning and operating state-licensed and accredited preschool, childcare, and school-age centers, I have a solid foundation in education. I have, also, served as a substitute teacher for middle and high school students, including fulfilling long-term positions in core academic subjects.

Having dedicated over 25 years to working with children in both classroom settings and extracurricular activities, I have taught a diverse range of subjects such as English, Reading, History, Math, Science, and ESL, to students with diverse abilities.

I appreciate your time in reviewing my profile and consider it an honor. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet your child and your family.

    Thank you.
