Class Experience

This course designed to help aid the progressing intermediate-level piano student. What will be taught will be varied on the student but such examples are chord progressions analysis, the transition to playing original works of classical music such as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. Students will be graduated out of the method so students will focus on playing classical sonata and sonatina's, baroque dance works such as English and French Suites, and minuets. Students will also follow the Royal Conservatory of Music(RCM) system of leveling of playing which can lead to piano exams if interested. At this level, we learn on etudes, technical skills such as piano scales, and other music styles such as jazz and blues.

This course is not designed for beginners only intermediate and advanced students. Students will be able to participate in online recitals, college prep, and preparation for RCM exams(if desired). Required experience is graduated of method book and evaluated by Instructor r based on level. Exact information will vary on each student and as we will vary. This course is meant for ages 13 and 18.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Mark Weathers, but my students called me Mr. Mark. I started taking formal piano lessons when I was 10, but starting playing around when I was 7. My first passion for music from what I can remember has been showing other kids how to play some piano like Heart and Soul! I have been teaching for 8 years, and I am currently the chairman of my local Piano Festival Competition in my area, and organize meetings for all the piano teachers in my area to meet. I have been teaching piano, ukelele, cello for almost a decade full time. Teaching music has the been most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life, and I plan to do it for the rest of my life. I am an active member of Music Teacher's National Association and National Federation of Music Clubs.

I believe that music is for everyone and anyone can learn it. My role as a teacher is to help guide students towards their goals. While I am, classically trained with the piano I am open to students suggestions and questions during the learning process. Students will learn variety of styles from pop to blues to classical to jazz. I also help students with RCM exam prep for students who are interested.

I am actually a citizen of Alaska, and lived here my entire life. But a fan fact I have lived in the Phillippines for 2 years, where half of my family lives! When I'm not teaching music, I am hanging out with family, swimming in the lake, or painting! I love nature, and exploring the different opportunities Alaska offers. A fun goal would be to travel Canada and visit all 50 states in the future.
