This is an individualized math homework help class designed just for your student! Having a one on one class means that I will be able to best provide your student with the support they need in not only completing their math homework, but also in helping them develop a deeper understanding for that specific math concept. Being that I am a 5th and 6th grade math teacher, I am ready and confident for any topic or concept they need support on. All they need to do is bring their math homework and we will work at their pace to get it completed and get a better understanding of the concepts and topics. As a teacher I try my best to engage my learners and I like to have fun when learning math! For some topics, I may even have a song that could help :) If that isn't your student's thing, no worries! I will bounce off of your student to ensure that our time together is well spent and that they log off with their homework completed, feeling more confident than when they logged on. To ensure I have any necessary supplies or tricks ready to go, please let me know what general topic or concept they need support with during that class (fractions, decimals, place value, ratios, etc.) Note: The goal of this class is to receive homework help and finish their homework assignment as well as tutoring on any topic they are not yet confident in. If the assignment is finished within the time frame, we will complete extra problems similar to those on their homework to really support clear understanding of the concept. Extensions will be provided as needed!

Hi there! I am Tara and I am so happy you stumbled upon my profile.
I am excited to offer classes about all my passions: middle school math, sewing, quilting and Disney! Here is a fun fact for you, I have been to all 6 Disney Park properties within 6 months! Those six parks are in California, Florida, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Paris. Needless to say I also love to travel and exploring our world.
I also own my own fabric store! My house pretty much looks like Joann Fabrics, but I LOVE it!
During the months of September through June, I am a 6th grade math and science teacher. This school year was my seventh year teaching and I can't wait for year eight to begin in the Fall! I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Phoenix. I hold an Illinois State and Michigan State Professional Teaching License along with an Endorsement in Middle Grades Mathematics and an endorsement for English Language Learners.
Whether I am teaching in a brick and mortar school or through the computer screen, my teaching philosophy will always be that student relationships and student engagement come first. I am a huge advocate for social emotional education and the idea that students learn best through actively engaging with a teacher they trust and respect. My students stay engaged through a bit of me embarrassing myself singing math songs and by us having fun all while learning those tough math concepts.
I can't wait to meet your student. Let's have some fun!
