Class Experience
Would your child like personalized art classes designed just for them? Is there something they wish they could learn to draw or paint but they can’t find any group classes on the subject? Or do they get frustrated when they would like to move at a different pace? If you answered yes to any of these questions, private art tutoring is perfect for your child! In these one-on-one lessons, your child will have the opportunity to learn according to their interests, move at their own pace, and receive constant personalized attention and feedback that is difficult to receive consistently in group classes. (Does your child want to take a specific class with a sibling or some friends? Let me know, and I can schedule that at a discount for each learner!) As a professional artist, I strive to teach techniques in the simplest way possible, because I learned most of what I know by experience. We all know that there is quite a gap between reading or watching a video on a new technique and actually being able to put this knowledge to practice. That’s where I come in! In my tutoring sessions, students will learn how to utilize the best techniques for THEM, without making things overly complicated. They will also be encouraged to use their own creativity and express themselves through their art. I really get to know what my student is interested in, and what skills they would like to learn. Then I develop lesson plans to fit their individual needs. Lessons can be taken as often as desired. For those who would like to schedule these tutoring sessions as a supplement to homeschooling and would like a specific curriculum to be taught, please contact me and I would be more than happy to adapt to teach the desired curriculum. Here is an example of a weekly schedule: Week 1: Learn about Still-Life paintings and famous artists. Start a still-life painting. Week 2: Continue still-life painting. Week 3: Finish still-life painting. Week 4: Learn techniques for shading with pencil, and practice creating depth and shadows. Week 5: Start drawing a reference picture of different objects in a room to practice shading. Week 6: Finish drawing picture. I look forward to watching my students’ creativity and love for art continue to grow through the personalized attention they will receive during their private art lessons!

Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in English to Speakers of Other Languages
I am a professional artist, specializing in oil portrait paintings, and I have had the privilege of displaying my artwork in venues across the country. I believe that art is about self expression and learning, and I hope to create a fun, interactive environment where students can develop a love for art while building their confidence in a new skill.
I have always struggled with expecting “perfection” of myself, especially in my art, so I am constantly reminding my students, as well as myself, that perfection is not required, and that practice, not unreasonable expectations, is what a advances our skills.
My joy in teaching comes from the comments of my students and their parents, expressing that they created something they didn’t know was possible.
