***My *NEW* Passport to the National Parks class couples well with this 50 states class as we review fun facts about the state the national park is located in! COMING IN JANUARY 2023! https://outschool.com/classes/passport-to-the-parks-lets-travel-and-learn-about-the-us-national-parks-9dFKcDVZ?usid=fueYmyk8&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link. ***

Come travel with Miss Lisa and her dog, Chuck! Each week, as we travel the country, we'll learn facts about a new state. We'll travel the country in our own hot air balloons and learn about directions, review skip counting to 50, letters and colors as we soar across the USA.

Each week as we meet we'll be introduced to a new state. We'll learn where our state is located as we review the cardinal directions (north, south, east, west). Each student will have their own hot air balloon to decorate and bring to class to travel to our new state, along with a map to color and help find which state we are learning about! (Miss Lisa’s hot air balloon has her silly dog, Chuck in it!) Students can also bring their coloring worksheets to practice letter tracing and colors as we look at the flag and learn fun facts about our state. We’ll talk about the state flower, state animal, state bird & state nickname on our fun facts page. Learners will also learn about the weather and share what’s happening in their state too! We’ll also look at pictures and talk about where we’d like to visit in our state and which yummy foods they’d like to try! Finally we’ll look at animals and even learn something silly!

Students will also be given related content in the form of video links, websites and often worksheets or activities to review and extend their learning after each class as well. Students are also encouraged to share information and items about their state with the class either during class or in the classroom! Miss Lisa and Chuck are from Ohio! Can you find it on a map? Where are you from?

Hello! My name is Miss Lisa! I love reading, learning and traveling ... and not necessarily in that order! :) I LOVE reading and diving into books and getting LOST in stories and learning. It can be quite an adventure like stepping through the wardrobe into Narnia! In my classroom, you will join me on adventures of different kinds.

In our classes, we'll go to far away places, whether in our imaginations or virtually as we travel! We'll read amazing books and learn about new things! We'll also read and discuss some books and even go "in game" in Minecraft to build what we are reading about.

I believe learning should be fun! My philosophy is "shh, don't let them know they're learning!" I LOVE to see my students having fun during our classes as they learn new things about our world and fall in love with reading. I also love to see students blossom as they become more comfortable and interact in the ways they feel comfortable. It is my desire to see your student come to my classroom and feel comfortable to LEARN, GROW and participate in whatever way they can.

I have been working with children ages 3-18 for over 20 years. I have organized and managed after-school mentoring programs and taught in church. I have been homeschooling for over 8 years and have been teaching online for over 6 years. I have a bachelor's degree in social work with an emphasis in psychology. I am also a published author.

I look forward to seeing you soon! If you have any questions, please message me. Please let me know if you have any scheduling difficulties; I typically answer within 24-48 hours.
