In this course, students will be able to: Play major and minor scales Learn how to determine the key of a piece Play chord inversions Learn new techniques (ex. pedaling, arpeggiated chord) Gain a greater understanding of music theory Increase their stamina Improve their dexterity
The only homework for this course is practice. Progress is cumulative. Practicing for shorter time spans, more frequently, will allow you to build upon what you have learned. I know schedules get very busy. Only you will know what works best for your family!
For the first class, please bring some music that you have worked on previously so that we can determine a proper starting point. Please make sure to have the following materials each class: Piano method book - I recommend Faber, but can use another book if you're student is already using one Any supplemental music Pencil
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students typically progress to new material when they show a basic understanding of the material taught and can play the current material with few mistakes.
30 minutes per class, and maybe some time outside of class.
