Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to make weekly improvements and awareness of one's own athletic abilities. Stretching and maintaining flexibility can be a daunting task, but my goal is to not only instill physical progress for athletes but instill a positive, can-do attitude to push through hard tasks to reap a sweet reward. I also want to incorporate education on specific muscles and joints that are being worked, why it is important to their sport, and the importance of a healthy mindset when it comes to sports.
-I have a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. -I was a cheerleader for 13 years, gymnast for 2 years, and dancer for 5 years, so I myself have been through stretch and fitness classes specific to my sport. -I have competed at USASF Cheer and Dance worlds three times. -I have 5 years of experience teaching stretch and flexibility classes.

•A space free of obstructions, preferably on a yoga mat, cheer mat, or gentle surface. We will be doing a lot of stretching on the floor, including splits so if the athletes needs a soft surface under their knees, they can use a blanket or sweatshirt for additional comfort/support. •Water bottle. •Clothing: Athletes should wear clothing they are comfortable in and does not restrict body movement. I would suggest any sort of athletic shorts, sweatpants, leggings, paired with a tank top or t-shirt. •Shoes: Shoes are not required but if the athlete does choose to wear shoes, please be sure that they are athletic shoes (dance flats, running shoes, cheer shoes, etc). •Hair: Hair should be pulled back with a hair tie, braid, or headband to ensure hair is out of face. •Jewelry: Please avoid wearing any jewelry to avoid accidental injury when stretching. •For more advanced athletes, resistance bands, ankle weights, and stacking yoga blocks are recommended but NOT required.

35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
While I do encourage athletes to push themselves to feel a good stretch, athletes should NEVER experience pain. My class is designed to warm up the muscles before moving onto static stretches that put more strain on the body. Parents are recommended to stay nearby but off-camera while providing supervision for beginner-level students. I will require all video cameras to stay on during class to ensure proper form and safe stretching practices for athletes.
