Description
Class Experience
Do you have a kind and caring kid that wants to help people? Or does your child love solving problems? This class combines empathy skills with critical thinking. Great inventions originate from a problem that needed to be solved. Amazing inventions originated from having empathy for those around us. In this one-time course, students will learn about a new invention created to help other people. We will use this as inspiration to show the limitless possibilities of empathetic and hard-working...
Students will apply creativity to solve the barriers to various life situations. Students will design an invention. Students will use teamwork skills to work effectively. Students will demonstrate empathy. Students will provide feedback to their peers.
I have a teaching license and have 7 years of experience in education settings. I will finish my master's this Spring in School Counseling, which equips me to create character education lessons.
Students will need to bring a paper and pencil in class to sketch or brainstorm their inventions. It is optional to bring building bricks to create a prototype of the invention. If the student does not bring any type of building brick to class, they will be asked to sketch their design and present this.
The learners will be informally assessed by in-class observation.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
