US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this one-time class, we will learn how to make our very own computer animation using ABCya! First, we will observe and discuss examples of computer animation, and how it is useful in today's world. Next, we will explore the various tools and begin creating a computer animation of our own. When complete, your learner will have their own digital painting that can be saved, downloaded, and shared! The possibilities are endless! After creating the animation together, we will engage in a discussion in which each learner will have the option to share their creation with the group and talk about it. This concluding activity promotes positive discussion, strengthening communication as well as critical thinking skills. Note: The free version of abcya.com works best on a PC desktop, laptop, or Chromebook. Mobile devices only offer limited access for free.
Learning Goals
This lesson provides several positive learning outcomes. By focusing on computer animation, the learners are able to gain a deeper understanding of how it is created and used in today's world, and how useful it can be in a variety of ways. Other learning outcomes include positive communication and critical thinking skills. Group discussion during the presentation and activity promotes positive communication, as does sharing the animation in the concluding discussion. Additionally, the learners will utilize critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge and experiences into the class discussion as well as into the computer animation they create.
