Class experience
In this “no experience needed” class I will walk students step by step through creating their own beautiful painting. This class is perfect for any new (or experienced!) artist wanting very clear and easy to follow instructions. During this class, students will learn how to create an acrylic painting on canvas. We will discuss and learn about our brushes and materials, as well as the painting techniques used to create this artwork. At the end of the 45-minute session, you will have your own...
This class is taught in English.
My mission for all of my classes is that every learner has the opportunity to be creative. I believe creativity is so important, and I want to give students the chance to express themselves in a safe and comfortable environment. The goal is for each student in this particular class to complete an entire acrylic painting, and learn about techniques and the brushes we use during class.
I have a BA in Art - Concentration in Drawing and Painting. I have been teaching art at the professional level for the last 8 years. I love to work on painting in my free time, and I illustrate children's books!
Learners will need a couple of supplies for painting. If you already have some supplies feel free to use what you have! You WILL need paints, brushes, and a canvas to complete this artwork! For this painting feel free to customize your butterfly colors to something you like. The paints listed are for the colors I used on the example painting, but feel free to get creative. I do recommend ACRYLIC paint, regardless of color as it dries quickly and will give the best result for this artwork. Gesso Primed Canvas (you can also use a canvas board or canvas paper. I will be using a 12x16in canvas, but anything around that size will work great! - https://amzn.to/3h3RMnx Blue Acrylic Paint - https://amzn.to/2LWmDY1 Black Acrylic Paint - https://amzn.to/3hazlh9 White Acrylic Paint - https://amzn.to/2Wyc5Am Red Acrylic Paint - https://amzn.to/37zEbBx Yellow Acrylic Paint - https://amzn.to/37Vflfo Purple Acrylic Paint - https://amzn.to/3mTPJUp Large Square Brush - https://amzn.to/2KDQDXZ Small Round Brush - https://amzn.to/3o3sDMA Paper Plate (or something to use as a paint pallet) - https://amzn.to/3p2htaW Cup of Water Paper Towels Pencil If you would like or need to purchase new supplies, Amazon links are provided. Acrylic paints can be hard to get off of furniture and out of clothing. Please make sure students have a space to work that is ok to get a bit messy. I recommend wearing old clothes that you won't mind if they get a little paint on them. Acrylic does come off of hair and skin with just a little soap and water.
MISSION My mission is to inspire and develop students' creativity through art and movement. I believe creativity is an important life skill that is not always cultivated in a traditional classroom setting. I am so excited to be a part of...
