Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this class students will continue to learn to identify when words have one or two vowels; we will work with CVC and CVCe words. We will learn ways to mark the vowels to help us when reading the words; students will have opportunity to use actions to identify the short and long vowels; as well as, writing on paper or a whiteboard. We will practice saying and reading the words using short, long, and silent sounds.
Throughout the class students will have opportunity to answer with the other students and individually. We will have fun doing actions and writing and reading words. I will teach the concept and then give the students opportunities to interact with each other and with me.
Letter recognition and knowledge of short vowel sounds will be helpful!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
I look forward to meeting your child and having lots of fun learning together!
