Progress will be assessed as follows: --Learner Questions: Learners will be encouraged to ask questions about the text being read, which can help assess their comprehension of the material. --Discussion: The instructor will facilitate discussion about the text, encouraging learners to share their thoughts and ideas, thus assessing each learner's ability to analyze and interpret the material. --Inferences: Learners will be asked to make inferences based on the text to assess their ability to draw conclusions and make connections between different parts of the material. --Personal Connections: Learners will work through ways to connect with the characters on a personal level, and assess their ability to empathize and relate to the material. --Articulating Importance: When reading nonfiction, the instructor may ask learners to articulate why the material is important and why others should care about it, assessing their ability to analyze and synthesize information.Class Experience

OVERVIEW Shivank's parents would like to schedule weekly ongoing private one-on-one sessions to reinforce what is being covered in the traditional classroom. HOW STUDENT WILL LEARN | TEACHER'S TEACHING STYLE Learning will take place through a one-on-one customized approach to “Mastering the Art of Reading," "Strategies for Understanding Fiction," "Just the Facts: No Stress Approach to Writing Nonfiction," "Expository Excellence: The Summary & Response Essay," "Summarizing and Analyzing Texts," and "Back It Up." Some sessions may include, but are not limited to, slides, readings (aloud and silent), worksheets, reflections, role-playing, and discussion. Shivank will have a chance to learn, practice, and then demonstrate his learning during this time by meeting agreed benchmarks established with/by all parties before the start date. SAMPLE TOPICS COVERED AS NEEDED --Strategies for Understanding Fiction --Summarizing and Analyzing Texts --Direct/Indirect Quotes --Citations, including those from AI sources --Engaging introductions --Conclusions that demonstrate critical thinking --Powerful topic sentences HOW STUDENT WILL INTERACT WITH TEACHER Student/parents will have access to the teacher 24/7. Shivank will be expected to share his experiences before, during, and after attempted strategies.

No supplies will be needed except for the assignments Shivank may be working on at that time. Having already taken previous courses of mine and ELA, Shivank may receive updated handouts to reinforce and better explain covered skills.
