Class Experience

In this class I will provide one-on-one individualized tutoring for ages 5-10 in the subject areas of Reading, Writing, and Math. This class will vary from learner to learner depending upon the individualized need. Parents will have the opportunity to provide me with the information on what is needed when they register their learner.
My teaching style is very much student led. I like to shift the focus of the teacher to the student. Student centered learning puts students' interested first, acknowledging students voice as central to the learning experience. When students figure out things on their own they have a better chance at remembering what they have learned.

Learning Goals

Learners will receive guided instruction in one of the three areas (reading, writing, or math)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is LeAnn Biggs. I have been a teacher in public education for 15 years. I moved up to an academic coaching position at my counties Board of Education and then moved up again to the Director of Technology for my District. I am also an ESL teacher as well. I have a bachelors degree in Elementary education K-6 and a Masters degree in Reading K-Adult and I am currently finishing another masters in Educational Leadership. My approach to teaching is to make sure all students are engaged at all times. This insures I keep the learners interest and they will continue to want to learn! If a child wants to learn something they are more likely to. I also like to incorporate thinking skills. Thinking skills are the mental activities you use to process information, make connections, make decisions, and create new ideas. I want my students to have fun, be engaged, and have a deeper understanding of a topic.
