Beginner - Advanced Level
Seeing my students connect to their true voice and find breakthrough in singing is my passion! I enjoy seeing students express themselves through music and find their passion of singing. I teach to the specific needs of the vocal student primarily in musical theatre, pop, and classical voice styles. We will work on building healthy vocal technique and will work on the specific goals of the student, whether that be to build confidence, work towards an audition, or preparation for a performance. This is a one-time meeting but can evolve into an ongoing weekly meeting. Learning objectives: Develop aural skills necessary to listen to and critique one’s own singing objectively Discover and refine personal voice expressed through your tone and music-making Recognize and learn to play in different musical styles of the assigned repertoire Acquire and strengthen technique necessary to sing the assigned repertoire Build understanding of interval, harmony, rhythm, form, and style in order to analyze and interpret assigned repertoire Acquire and employ various practice methods for efficient and effective practicing Identify and correct counterproductive physical and aural habits Learn how to prepare for performances and handle issues of performance anxiety Communicate expressively with collaborative partners and with the audience. Develop the art of giving and receiving constructive criticism Become familiar with a wide range of vocal repertoire

Supply List
Having a second device (such as a phone or tablet) to play accompaniments on is extremely helpful. Turn on “ORIGINAL SOUND.” -In Zoom’s audio settings (sometimes located under “advanced audio settings”), select “Show in-meeting option to ‘Enable Original Sound’ from microphone.” When Original Sound is on, audio enhancements such as background noise suppression (which corrupt sustained sounds, like singing) are turned off and Zoom will mute out the singing voice. We’ll begin with a vocal warm up and technique work before moving into repertoire and performance coaching. Feel free to let me know specific things you would like to work on in the lesson. The student should come with a joyful attitude prepared with an organized binder with given music and handouts, a pencil, and whatever we have been working on in the lessons. I expect my students to come to each lesson prepared with the material from the previous week. Progress and growth is made by taking what is learned in the lesson and applied during outside practice time.
